If AI is primarily used to augment human controlled processes and decisions- I believe that implies it is just another specialized tool in the toolbox. To be effective adopters of that augmentation, it seems like tricks about prompt design, and frameworks about dealing with lack of stationarity of responses, hallucination suppression, and more could be expected as entry level skills.

But doesn’t it seem likely that having gotten to some level of useful augmentation adoption- there will be (and probably already are) folks who are saying we go from there to auto pilot mode since the system can continue to provide the same advice when the human isn’t in the loop without the slow downs and indecisions a human will introduce. Which gets us back to issue of reducing headcount before understanding the potential downsides of closed loop real time business process control by AI.

Enjoyed this read. Adding a bit of my own take on AI and its use cases inside government. I would love to hear any thoughts you might have on my perspective. https://thegoodideafairy.substack.com/p/how-to-implement-citizen-centric
